Let me start by saying something that might sound a little strange coming from an audiobook narrator:
I’m not here to sell you an audiobook.
Seriously.
I’m not going to try to convince you that you need to hire me. I’m not selling a course, a book, a coaching program, or a seven-part webinar series that somehow ends with a $1,997 upgrade.
I'm just an audiobook narrator who remembers what it was like to be independent and trying to figure all of this out.
And I had some really great independent authors help me along the way.
Now I'd like to return the favor.
Well, take a look at the numbers.
Independent publishers already represent a significant portion of the audiobooks being produced. You don't have to be one of the Big Five publishers to get your book into the audiobook marketplace.
And here's another interesting comparison:
The overwhelming majority of books being published today come from independent authors and publishers.
That's a pretty big audience of authors who are already creating books, building audiences, and finding readers on their own.
Why shouldn't audiobooks be part of that?
But here's the part I really want you to know:
There are ways to test the waters.
There are ways to research your genre, look at what's happening with comparable books, understand the audiobook marketplace, and get a better idea of whether your particular book is worth producing in audio before you start writing checks.
And that's where I'm happy to help.
Have questions?
Ask me.
Don't know where to start?
Let's talk.
Wondering whether your book would work as an audiobook?
I'll give you my honest opinion.
Not sure whether you should pay a narrator, use a royalty arrangement, narrate it yourself, or explore another option?
I'll explain what I know.
And if I think you're about to spend money you don't need to spend, I'll tell you that, too.
I'm not going to tell you that every book needs an audiobook.
I'm not going to tell you that you have to hire a professional narrator.
And I'm definitely not going to give you a bunch of free advice and then hit you with:
“Great! Now here's my $2,500 coaching package.”
That's not what this is.
If, after talking with me, you decide that an audiobook isn't right for you, that's perfectly fine.
If you decide to produce one yourself, I'll still be happy that I was able to help.
And if someday you decide you'd like me to narrate your book?
Well… I'd certainly be happy to talk about it.
But that's not why I'm offering this.
Because independent authors helped me get started.
When I was trying to find my way into the audiobook world, other authors took chances on me. They answered questions, gave me opportunities, and helped me learn an industry that can be pretty confusing when you're first looking at it from the outside.
I've now narrated dozens of audiobooks, worked with some fantastic independent authors, and learned a lot along the way.
I've also learned that there is a lot of misinformation, unnecessary expense, and plain old confusion surrounding audiobooks.
I'd like to help clear some of that up.
So if you're an independent author sitting there thinking:
“I've always wondered if my book could work as an audiobook…”
Let's talk.
No sales pitch.
No obligation.
No course to buy.
No book to purchase.
No subscription.
Just a conversation with someone who has been on the other side of the microphone and is happy to share what he's learned.
You wrote the book. You built the world. You found the readers.
Maybe it's time to see what that story sounds like.
And if I can help you figure out whether that's the right next step, I'm happy to do it.
No strings attached.
